Evaluation 2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Moment is aimed towards the middle class/aspires and achievers in society, typically trendy and either still in education or a full time job, this meant I did research into the kind of existing magazines that are most likely to cater for my target market, in which I found magazines like Q and billboard. Moment caters to my social group with its classy and slick look, something someone living in the middle to upper class lifestyle would be attracted to. The content in the magazine will be based around chart music which will include a broad range of genres, but mainly pop as I feel many young adults enjoy this genre but have little pop magazines available to them. I will also include content specific to young adults such as upcoming festivals and gigs which would attract them to buy my product and create a more niche market. I have tried to keep the magazine as unisex as possible and not include anything that makes it too gender specific. The simple colour scheme of black, white and a deep red helps to portray this, as well as images of both males and females throughout the pages. The deep red/burgundy colour connotes a very royal and powerful image, which again attracts a high class audience. Furthermore, having a high class audience allows be to have a slightly higher selling price than competitors Q and Billboard as they will be willing to pay more, especially if in good jobs. The magazine is filled with exclusives, high quality information/stories and altogether has a very personal approach to it to allow the readers to feel special and valued.
